Primarily, I work with and channel my own Divine Light Guides. They are healers and teachers to the very core!
When appropriate, the spirit teams of the one receiving the guidance may come through as well as Ascended Masters, Angels, Saints, departed loved ones.

Have water - it helps.
Be comfortable & somewhere that you will not be disturbed.
Bring an open heart and mind as much as you can... or be willing to.
You can best prepare by having a general (or specific) focus and/or question(s) in mind - spoken or not spoken - it is fine either way.

There are many differences, but one of the main ones is that generally, a Psychic reading may have predictions - past, present, future and is focused on mundane topics, fortune-telling and general answers. A Divine Light Channeled Session is connection with spirit - more specifically Spiritual Guides and the focus is based in self-awareness, connection with your whole self and maybe even your spirit team. It is practical, hands-on advice from a benevolent and infinitely broader perspective. There are countless advantages to working directly with spirit.  They also may help you to know what questions might benefit you to ask in the first place!
Mediumship is generally thought of as connecting with your departed loved ones. That may happen in your session, but it is not the main focus.
